Treble, a startup simulating how sound behaves in buildings for the construction industry, has secured $12 million in Series A funding from Kompas VC.

The Iceland-based startup, which was launched in 2020, has developed a platform that generates audio simulations for real-life scenarios and applications, including for architects who want to understand how sound will interact in a room before it is built.

Treble has developed a cloud-based synthetic audio data engineering platform. It says it creates sounds 100 times faster than existing simulations and is powered by the startup’s own patented technology.

The startup, which was founded by two acoustic engineers, says creating sound for construction, cars and tech products is normally costly because it hasn’t been easy to integrate accurate simulation solutions into the design process.

Buildings and cars must meet acoustic standards so they don’t adversely impact human health.

In addition to construction and automotive, Treble is targeting customers for applications in immersive reality and music venues.

In its pitch deck, Treble states that it has achieved annual recurring revenue of €1.3 million in 12 months.

“Our mission at Treble is to provide the software tools necessary to make the world a better sounding and less noisy place,” said cofounder and CEO Finnur Pind. “This, in turn, will significantly improve health, well-being, and productivity across the globe.”

The Series A was led by Kompas VC, an early-stage venture capital firm that has backed the likes of Vizcab and Findable.

With the cash injection, Treble will grow its headcount, work with new enterprise clients, and double down on its research and development efforts.
