JUST IN: NFL Superstar Arrested Hours Ahead Of Week One Kickoff

NFL superstar Tyreek Hill was detained by police just hours ahead of his teams opening game in the 2024-25 season.

Video from bystanders shows officers placing the Miami Dolphins star in handcuffs just outside the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where Hill’s Dolphins are set to face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.

“Yo, that’s actually Tyreek,” a bystander can be heard saying as he drove past the scene. Hill was surrounded by at least five motorcycle police officers and appeared to be attempting to sit down in the brief clip, which was uploaded to social media.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter soon confirmed that Hill was arrested just hours ahead of his team’s week one kickoff.

“Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill was detained by police today entering the stadium for a driving violation, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus. But Rosenhaus said Hill will play today,” Schefter announced in an X post.

ESPN NFL reporter Jeff Darlington provided additional details on the incident in an X post of his own. “After he was pulled over, he got into a verbal altercation with police. The officer chose to place Hill in handcuffs. He was cited and released after the situation was deescalated,” Darlington reported.

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, claimed the incident was “completely unnecessary” during an appearance on ESPN. “It’s a heartbreaking situation. Obviously, I love Tyreek. I hated to see him in the situation he was in with the police. He is going to play today,” he said.

Rosenhaus called the situation “mind-boggling” and claimed it was all the fault of police.

His career has not come without controversy. Prior to entering the NFL, Hill was dismissed from the Oklahoma State football and track teams following his arrest and guilty plea for domestic violence.

“This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police. He has since been released,” the Dolphins said in a statement on Sunday’s incident. “Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game.”
