‘Octomom’ Nadya Suleman becomes a grandmother for the first time: ‘So blessed’

“Octomom” Nadya Suleman’s family is growing.

The 49-year old, who catapulted to infamy in 2009 with octuplets conceived via in-vitro fertilization, announced on Instagram Sunday that she has become a grandmother for the first time.

Suleman shared a photo of her new granddaughter’s foot poking out of a blanket, alongside a sweet message about the life milestone.

“Thank you my son and my lovely daughter in law for giving us this beautiful gift!” Suleman wrote in her caption. “We are so blessed that she is a new addition to our family!”

She added, “Baby girl you are so very loved and we can’t wait to watch you grow!!”

Suleman’s post revealed that her granddaughter was born on August 30.

The ex-porn star is mom to 14 children including her octuplets: Jonah, Nariyah, Josiah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Noah, Jeremiah and Makai. She has six other kids: Amerah, Calyssa, Elijah, Jonah, Joshua and Aidan.

In 2001, shortly after separating from her ex-husband Marcos Gutierrez, the then 21-year-old Suleman welcomed her first son, Elijah, after “hoarding” her own money to cover $10,000 in IVF fees. She went on to welcome five more children, including a set of fraternal twins, through IVF over the next few years.

And in 2008, Dr. Michael Kamrava — who was ultimately stripped of his medical license, and has since moved out of the United States — implanted 12 embryos in the mother, resulting in the birth of eight babies.

Suleman broke the Guinness World Record for delivering the most amount of children to survive during a single birth. She welcomed her tummy tribe via cesarean section on Jan. 26, 2009.

In August, Suleman honored her son Joshua on his 21st birthday on social media and suggested he was the one who just made her a first-time grandma.

“I am so proud of the man you are becoming. You are smart, funny, hard working, loyal, humble, and now a devoted husband and soon to be father,” she wrote, alongside multiple childhood photos of Joshua.

Back in January, Suleman marked her octuplet’s 15th birthday with a sweet Instagram tribute.

“Happy 15th birthday Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jeremiah, Jonah, Josiah, and Makai!” she said. “I am so proud of the young adults you are growing into! Stay true to yourselves, humble, kind, and honest.”

“I am so grateful for your love, and am beyond blessed to have you in my life. I love you,” Suleman added.

Suleman held onto her “Octomom” identity for a while, but today she has a BA in child development and works as a counselor.

“When I walked, or shall I say ran away, from my Octomom persona, I went right back into my healthy lifestyle that I’ve always had my whole life,” she told ITV in 2019.
