Trump Admits He’s Concerned for His Family After Assassination Attempts

Former President Donald Trump said that the recent attempts on his life have left him worried about his family’s safety as the 2024 election draws closer.

Ahead of Trump’s North Carolina campaign event, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade asked the former president, “I know you and your safety is with the Secret Service, but do you worry about your family too?”

“I do, I do. I don’t talk about it, but I do. I have to worry about family,” Trump said.

“I have to worry about everybody,” Trump said.

“I worry about you. I worry about everybody because look, we’re under siege and no country has ever suffered like we have for the last three and a half, almost four years,” he continued.

The former president also said another point of worry is what’s happening in America, highlighting the soaring crime as a result of millions pouring in through the border from dangerous countries.

“When you have that happening at this city and this country, I do [worry]. I want to protect everybody,” Trump said.

Last week, the second failed assassination attempt against Trump came within 60 days after his near miss at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

58-year-old Ryan Routh was apprehended after a Secret Service thwarted his attack after an agent spotted his sniper’s nest outside the golf course

Trump’s round of golf was not publicly scheduled, leading to concerns that a mole within the Secret Service was feeding out undisclosed information.

Last week, Congressman Eli Crane has warned of the possibility that someone is leaking intelligence to put Trump’s life in danger.

“My advice to the President is to bolster your private security around you not only to fill holes in the gaps that the Secret Service continues to leave open but also to watch the watchers,” Crane suggested.

Earlier this week, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill to increase around all Secret Service protectees, with a thorough review of procedures.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Fox News host asked Trump whether moderators would treat J.D. Vance fairly in his October 1 debate with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on CBS News.

“He won’t get a fair shot,” Trump replied. “

But he will handle it very good.”

However, the former president expressed confidence in his running mate’s chances of victory,

I think he’s done great. People are really liking him,” Trump said.

“He’s tough, smart, he loves our country. He’s going to have no trouble.”
