Ellen DeGeneres, 66, stops using botox, fillers to achieve youthful look: ‘A waste of energy’

Ellen DeGeneres is no longer interested in chasing a youthful appearance.

The comedian, 66, opened up about her decision to ditch cosmetic procedures in her new and final Netflix special titled “For Your Approval,” telling fans that she’s embracing getting older.

“I used to say that I didn’t care what other people thought of me,” she said in the special. “I realize now, looking back, that I said that at the height of my popularity.”

“Hey, if I look older than when you saw me last it’s because I’m older than when you saw me last. And also I stopped doing Botox and filler.”

The comic, who has been living under the radar following allegations of a toxic workplace environment on the set of her eponymous talk show that wrapped in 2022, also revealed that she has been battling several health woes in recent months.

“I used to do Botox and filler back when I didn’t care what other people thought of me… such a waste of time to worry about what other think of us,” she said.

“Just a waste of energy. We’re just guessing, we don’t know. It’s impossible to guess what people are thinking.”

DeGeneres discovered that she had “full-on” brittle bone osteoporosis — a disease that causes bones to become weak and likely fracture — after undergoing a bone density test.

“I don’t even know how I’m standing up right now. I’m like a human sandcastle. I could disintegrate in the shower,” she explained. “It’s hard to be honest about aging and seem cool.”

“I had excruciating pain one day and I thought I tore a ligament or something and I got an MRI and they said, ‘No, it’s just arthritis.’”

“I said, ‘How did I get that?’ And he said, ‘Oh it just happens at your age,’” she added.

The comic also added that she’s been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

“So, I have ADD, I have OCD — I’m losing my memory,” she revealed. “But I think I’m well adjusted because I obsess on things, but I don’t have the attention span to stick with it, and I quickly forget what I was obsessing about in the first place.”

“So, it takes me all the way around to being well-adjusted, I think,” she added.

DeGeneres said she only received the diagnosis after she left her long-running daytime talk show following a spate of allegations surfaced in 2020, accusing the comedian of running a toxic workplace.

The comedian revealed she was diagnosed with those conditions when she was in therapy following the claims she created a work environment on her talk show that bred “racism, fear and intimidation.”

“I was in therapy for a while trying to deal with all the hatred that was coming at me,” she shared. “And you know, it was not a common situation for a therapist to deal with.”

“Ellen Degeneres: For Your Approval” is streaming on Netflix.
