Frankie Valli, 90, insists nobody is ‘forcing’ him ‘to go on stage’ after viral lip-sync video sparks concern

You couldn’t keep Frankie Valli off the stage even if you tried.

The Four Seasons singer, who turned 90 in May, has responded to fans who expressed concern after a video of Valli appearing frail at a recent concert went viral, taking particular issue with people on social media speculating his team was forcing him to perform.

“I know there has been a lot of stuff on the internet about me lately so I wanted to clear the air,” Valli said in a statement to The Post on Monday. People was the first to publish his response.

“I am blessed to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love to do and as long as I am able, and audiences want to come see me, I am going to be out there performing as I always I [sic].”

Valli added, “I absolutely love what I do. And I know we put on a great show because our fans are still coming out in force and the show still rocks.”

“How do we do the show?! The Four Seasons sound was always about layering vocals and instruments. We use our 60 years of experience so we sound like the records. I sing, I have singers who sing, great arrangements….everything.”

“I get a chuckle from the comments wondering if someone forcing me to go on stage,” Valli shared. “Nobody has ever made me do anything I didn’t want to do.”

The iconic crooner ended by saying, “I plan to be doing shows as long as I can, delivering that great Four Seasons sound. Like that line in Jersey Boys, I’m like that bunny on TV, that just keeps going and going and going. Chasing the music.”

The viral video of Valli — taken at an Aug. 3 concert in a suburb of San Jose, Calif. — appeared to show him having difficulty climbing a short flight of stairs to make it on the stage and struggling to lip-sync.

The clip began circulating online just days after the concert. One person who reposted the video on X and drew millions of views expressed the sentiment of many who believed the “Can’t Keep My Eyes Off You” singer was being forced to perform.

“Someone connect me to the Vegas loanshark making Frankie do this. I’ll buy his debt so the poor man can rest,” the person wrote.

Another wrote, “Who is doing this to Frankie Valli? This is hard to watch.”

“Let the man retire,” someone else said on X.

Many chimed in to defend Valli. “Frankie Valli is such a king,” one fan posted. “We need to protect him for as long as we can. His dedication after all these years is incredible.”

At the time, a rep for Valli exclusively told The Post, “Frankie is doing just fine and super happy to still be performing. The audiences are filling venues and listening to some great music.”

The rep added, “Frankie is doing what he loves to do at 90. We should all be so lucky.”

However, shortly after, Valli canceled two tour dates after revealing he had COVID.

“Hi everyone. Unfortunately I’ve got COVID like so many other folks these days,” Valli said in a statement posted to Instagram on Aug. 18. “I’m tired but doing ok. Of course I won’t be able to perform tonight in Atlanta and had to miss last night in Greensboro. Sorry to all the folks who bought tickets to the shows….stay tuned….my guys will get them rescheduled as soon as possible.”

The singer soon recovered and rescheduled the shows.
