Niecy Nash reveals why Travis Kelce was ‘greedy’ on ‘Grotesquerie’ set

Emmy-winning actress Niecy Nash has weighed in on Travis Kelce’s budding acting career.

“Travis Kelce is greedy, he does eat a lot. A lot! But other than me teasing him about that, we really had a good time working together,” Nash, 54, told The Post.

Nash stars with the NFL player in Ryan Murphy’s latest show, “Grotesquerie,” premiering Wednesday on FX and streaming the next day on Hulu.

The drama series follows Detective Lois Tryon (Nash), who is investigating a series of crimes in a small community that seem strangely personal, like someone is taunting her.

Soon, she gets help from Sister Megan, (Micaela Diamond), a nun and journalist. Lois is also grappling with a strained relationship with her daughter (Raven Goodwin) and a husband (Courtney B. Vance) who is in long-term hospital care. Lesley Manville (“The Crown”) co-stars as a nurse, while Taylor Swift’s boyfriend appears in his first acting role.

Nash joked about Kelce, “I’m now a Chiefs fan.”

She added, “Am I a Chiefs fan, or am I just a Travis fan? Because whatever team he was playing on, that would probably be my team at this point! He’s so charming, very wonderful, he came to work prepared. A professional, all the way around. I really enjoyed working with him, and I enjoyed him as a person.”

Nash, who is best known for “Reno 911!,” “Claws” and “When They See Us,” won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in another Ryan Murphy show, “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” in 2022.

When Murphy calls to offer a role in one of his shows, Nash said that her reply is an “automatic yes.”

She quipped: “Always and forever.”

Although Nash is a seasoned veteran in both comedy and drama, she said that “Grotesquerie” presented her with a new challenge.

“I had never played a character quite like this, ever,” she told The Post.

“So I just really had to think about it. I had to think about exchanges that I had had with people along the way – when you meet people, you can pick up a little something and tuck it into your acting bag. I didn’t base her off one person in particular, but she’s a little bit of different people that I’ve experienced.”

The former “Scream Queens” star said that Lois is battling alcoholism.

“I’ve never played a woman with an addiction before … it was something different to lean into. You can be in different places. Are you tipsy? Are you drunk? Hungover? There’s a lot of places to be in it,” she said, adding that the challenge of the role was, “keeping track of what just happened so you understand where you are emotionally and in the addiction is something that you have to track.”

The cast and crew were in the dark about who the killer was — up until the end.

“The way that this serial killer commits crimes, some of that is [makes you react] like, ‘Say what now?’ I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this, how did Ryan even imagine this?” said Nash.

“And the whole time, interestingly enough, the entire crew stayed in the conversation about who is the serial killer? Whodunnit? ‘I think it’s this person, I think it’s that person.’ We were all in it, up until the end. So it definitely makes you want to stay on the ride, to try to figure out what’s going on.”

When Nash finally found out the killer’s identity, she said she was “very surprised.”
