NYC Borough Sees Massive Spike In Animal Sacrifices: ‘It’s Open Season’

Queens, New York has recorded a massive surge in gruesome animal sacrifices, as scores of chickens, pigs, and rats have been found with signs of torture, mutilation, and ritual sacrifice in “twisted” rituals, according to a report from the New York Post.

In just over a month, at least nine severely wounded animals or carcasses have been discovered in the federally-managed Spring Creek Park in Howard Beach and the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Broad Channel, the outlet reported. At least five of the wounded animals were pigs that were found with partially severed ears.

Additional findings from the gruesome scene include a barely alive baby rat that was found tied in a bag with chicken bones, a severed chicken head, and a live hen in distress. Authorities also found a dead dog with its neck snapped.

“It’s continually getting worse. The animal sacrifices are happening more repeatedly, more times a week,” Sloane Quealy, co-founder and president of Zion’s Mission Animal Rescue, told the New York Post. “The sacrificers know it’s open season.”

One of the mutilated pigs was found emaciated in a food-filled crate in July. The wounded animal was suffering from a deep gash running down its face, while its body was covered in oils and spices, according to Kristen Latuga of the Long Island-based animal sanctuary, Brucie’s Angels. The sanctuary is currently caring for the five ailing pigs that were recovered alive.

Several animal rescuers and a local religious leader suggested that the animal torture and sacrifice could be linked  to a Hindu sect who have performed animal sacrifice in the Jamaica Bay Area for decades. “It’s a misconstruing of what the scriptures say about conquering the animalistic values,” said Acharya Arun Gossai, who runs the Bhuvaneshwar Mandir temple in Ozone Park.

“They’ve twisted it and they’ve sacrificed an actual animal rather than sacrificing the animalistic qualities of man.”

The New York Post noted that Jamaica Bay has long been a popular religious site among members of the Hindu Guyanese and Indo-Caribbean diaspora living in surrounding neighborhoods, including Ozone Park and Richmond Hill.

Last week, the outlet accompanied Quealy and another animal rescuer, Kim Fraser, as they tracked down a trio of piglets that had their ears and tails cut off. The mutilated animals were found roughly 100 feet away from statues of Hindu deities resting atop a mound of turf. Additional ritual materials were recovered from the scene.

Followers of other cults and pagan followers whose practices  include animal torture, mutilation and sacrifice — inclusion voodoo and Santeria, have been known to carry out gruesome rituals on the beaches, according to the report.
