Packers WR Watson ruled out with ankle injury

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Packers lost receiver Christian Watson to a left ankle injury in the second quarter of the game Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Watson was the intended target of a Jordan Love pass that was picked off by Vikings linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, who cut in front of Watson. In the process, Watson’s left leg got caught underneath him. After being down for a short time and attended to by the medical staff, Watson was able to walk off the field and into the injury tent under his own power.

However, after a brief examination in the tent, Watson was carted to the locker room.

It was Love’s second interception of the season in as many games. He threw one in the season-opening loss to the Eagles and then missed the next two games because of a left knee injury. Watson had five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in the first three games, but two of those games were in a limited passing attack with Malik Willis filling in for Love at quarterback.

The Packers trailed 28-7 at halftime. They did not score until a 16-yard touchdown pass from Love to Jayden Reed with 15 seconds left in the second quarter.
