Perry Ferrell is working on himself following his onstage brawl with Jane’s Addiction bandmate Dave Navarro.
Perry’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, posted a statement on Instagram Saturday and said the couple is “beyond grateful and so very humbled” by the “beautiful words of love and support” they’ve received since the incident.
“As you know, Perry is the gentlest of souls,” she wrote. “We are equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are – but you must know that Perry must had been pushed to his absolute limit.. to that end we apologize.”
“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” Etty Lau, 49, said, adding that Perry, 65, “already has appointments with a otolaryngologist and a neurologist.”
“If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives,” she went on. “Our souls know.”
Etta Lau then said that Perry “will perserve,” “will recover,” and “will be happy again.”
“Make no mistake when he’s ready he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think, while changing the world together,” she added. “We can rejoice together then. And you will know, we would not have been able to do it without you.”
The fight between Perry and Navarro, 57, occurred at the band’s Boston show on Sept. 13.
Perry was in the middle of singing “Ocean Size” and became visibly aggravated, shouting expletives at the audience and bandmates.
He proceeded to get in Navarro’s face and threw punches before several crew members and bassist Eric Avery ran up and restrained the frontman.
The next day, Etty Lau claimed on Instagram that tensions between Perry and the rest of the band had been growing because his voice was being drowned out by all their instruments.
Etty Lau said that after the other three band members left the stage, Avery, 59, “walked up to Perry, upstage, in the dark, behind [sound technician Dan Cleary], put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times.”
“Perry was a crazed beast for the next half an hour — he finally did not calm down, but did breakdown and cried and cried,” Etty Lau wrote.
Due to the fight, the rock group canceled the rest of their reunion tour dates.
“To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group,” the band said in an Instagram statement.
Navarro, Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins released a separate statement, blaming Perry’s “continuing pattern of behavior and mental health difficulties” for the fight and tour cancelation.
“Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” the trio said.
Perry, meanwhile, apologized for his behavior in his own statement.
“This weekend has been incredibly difficult, and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” Perry said.
He added, “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
Sources close to the situation exclusively told The Post that Perry was “heartbroken at his actions” and finally realized “that he waited too long to prioritize his well-being.”
“His exhaustion and the toll it has taken on both his physical and mental health has gone too far,” the source stated. “He had the best of intentions heading out on tour with the band and feels like he’s let his fans and family down.”
Jane’s Addiction formed in 1985. The core members of the group kicked off their first tour together in 14 years over the summer.
