‘The Wild Robot’ takes control of box office

“The Wild Robot” invaded theaters.

On its opening day Friday, the animated sci-fi flick — which The Post called the “best family film of the year” — landed at the top of the box office, raking in $11.32 million, according to The Numbers.

The DreamWorks production, which is based on the book series of the same name, features the voices of Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Catherine O’Hara and Mark Hamill.

It already made history as the third best opening for an animated movie in September, according to Deadline.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” remained in second place this Friday, its fourth in theaters, with sales of $4.2 million.

The cult classic sequel is currently at No. 13 in the list of the Top 2024 movies at the worldwide box office.

In third place was “Devara: Part 1,” which opened Friday with sales of $4 million.

The Indian action drama, which was released in five languages, stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr., who has been on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list since 2012 and has close to 8 million Instagram followers.

“Transformers One” which was in first place on its opening day last Friday, toppled down to fourth, with a $2.25 million-dollar take.

In fifth was the sci-fi drama “Megalopolis,” which earned $1.8 million.

The Post called the film, which was written, directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, “a zero-star, wacko disaster.”

Coppola put $120 million of his own money into the independent production, which stars Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman.
