Trump rakes in $130M for campaign in August

Former President Donald Trump raised $130 million last month, a haul built almost entirely by small-dollar donations, his campaign announced Wednesday.

The August fundraising totals leave Trump, 78, with $295 million in cash on hand two months out from Election Day.

“With Republicans united and a growing number of Independents and disaffected Democrats crossing partisan lines, the Trump-Vance campaign has momentum for the final stretch of the race,” Trump campaign Senior Advisor Brian Hughes said in a statement.

“These fundraising numbers from August are a reflection of that movement and will propel President Trump’s America First movement back to the White House so we can undo the terrible failures of Harris and Biden,” he added.

The campaign noted that 98% of August donations were under $200, resulting in an average contribution of $56 “from everyday Americans.”

Trump’s August haul was slightly less than the $138.7 million the campaign raised in July.

The Republican nominee’s war chest is also smaller than the $327 million reported at the end of July, as campaigning has intensified in the final months of the 2024 race.

The Trump campaign, as well as outside groups backing the former president, outspent Vice President Kamala Harris in four key swing states — Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and North Carolina — between July 22 and Aug. 25, according to ad-tracking firm Ad Impact and NPR.

The Harris campaign has not yet released its August fundraising numbers.

Harris campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon announced last week that Harris had raised $540 million since she replaced President Biden, 81, at the top Democratic ticket in July, including $82 million earlier this month during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

“This is the most ever for any presidential campaign in this time span,” she said in a memo.

Harris raised a stunning $310 million for her campaign an authorized committees in July, more than double Trump’s total for that month.
