Vikings’ Sam Darnold lights up Packers for 3 first-half TDs

GREEN BAY — Sam Darnold continued his storybook season Sunday at Lambeau Field, throwing three touchdown passes as the Minnesota Vikings took a 28-7 halftime lead over the Green Bay Packers.

Darnold entered the game with an NFL-high eight scoring passes and began adding to that total.

His first score was a 29-yard connection with receiver Jordan Addison in the first quarter.

His second went to tight end Josh Oliver later in the opening quarter.

Then he hit a spectacular back-shoulder pass to receiver Justin Jefferson for a 14-yard score in the second.

With Addison back after missing two games because of an ankle injury, Darnold had a talented group of receivers to spread the ball to. He targeted nine different pass catchers, completing a pass to eight of them.

In all, Darnold completed 11 of 15 passes for 136 yards while also scrambling once for nine yards to convert a first down.
