CNN feed goes dark for 2 minutes during Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s speech at DNC: ‘Someone is getting fired’

CNN experienced a major blackout as Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her speech during the final night of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday.

Whitmer was in the middle of throwing support behind Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee when the technical glitch struck the airwaves.

“But Kamala Harris, she gets us, she sees us she is us. Look..” Whitmer said as her frozen face remained on screen for a second before the feed turned black.

Many CNN viewers were forced to change networks to see Whitmer conclude her speech, where the 52-year-old governor went on to blast former President Donald Trump, claiming the Republican presidential nominee wouldn’t be fit if a hypothetical disaster struck the country.

“I can’t imagine how many viewers CNN lost from that 2 minute blackout. Someone is getting FIRED,” one user on X exclaimed.

“Look we all lived through a lot of history the last four years. Floods and fires, an attempted coup, a plot and a pandemic,” Whitmer said, referring to a foiled plot to kidnap her.

“It’s exhausting, we don’t know what the next four years will bring. But what we do know is this. Through it all your life won’t stop, you’re gonna have to get to work, pick up the kids and pay your bills.

“And then one day when you’re just trying to get everyone out the door a news alert goes off, something happened, something hit the fan you’ll ask ‘Is my family gonna be ok?’ ” Whitmer said in her hypothetical.

“Then you’ll ask ‘who the hell is in charge.”

As she wrapped up her speech in front of the United Center crowd, Whitmer gave her full endorsement to the 59-year-old vice president.

“America lets choose Kamala Harris,” Whitmer said to a standing ovation as she walked off the stage.
