Liberal late-night host Bill Maher can’t take the lies from Kamala Harris and Tim Walz anymore, he recently told guests on his HBO show while discussing the couple’s joint interview on CNN.
The vice president and her running mate were “insulting my intelligence,” Maher said on Friday’s edition of “Real Time with Bill Maher.” His comments came in response to Harris’s first and only sit-down interview with a reporter since launching her campaign in July. Maher singled out Walz, the governor of Minnesota, for claiming he speaks like everyday Americans, in contrast to Donald Trump and J.D. Vance (R-OH) who cater to the rich and powerful. “No, you don’t,” Maher said about Walz, prompting laughter from his live audience. “No, you don’t. You’re a huge liar, like all politicians are.”

“I don’t care by the way,” Maher added. “I’ve always said this about politics, they’re all going to lie they’re [politicians]. It’s what they lie about. I don’t give a shit what you did during the Iraq War, you were in the Guard … I don’t understand why they just can’t… you’re just insulting my intelligence.” Continuing on, Maher mocked Harris for claiming she “immediately thought of” President Joe Biden’s well-being after first hearing that he was ending his reelection campaign. “No you’re didn’t.”

Since his announcement, Walz has taken heat on a number of fronts for his lack of familiarity with the truth. Former service members have come forward to rip the Democrat for bailing on his battalion shortly before it deployed to the Iraq War, and more recently he and his wife Gwen Walz were forced to backtrack on claims they used IVF to conceive. Both began mentioning their conception struggles after a state court in Alabama briefly outlawed the procedure. Walz has also been called out for fibbing on more mundane matters, including in a recent video where he tells Harris he enjoys spiceless “white guy tacos.” Online sleuths quickly uncovered a past social media post touting his award-winning hot tacos recipe.

Maher also took aim at Harris for offering a full-throated defense of fracking after spending the 2020 presidential campaign promising to implement a nationwide ban on the practice. “Dana Bash had her dead to rights. It’s like, you said this, I have the quote, I’m reading it to you, you said there should be a ban on fracking. Why can’t they just go, ‘Yeah, you know what, I got it wrong, I was talking to uh the wrong people?’”
He got a final dig in on Harris, mentioning the high staff turnover rate under her failed presidential campaign and time in the White House. Her caustic behavior, chronicled by the Daily Mail, has at times been described as “soul-destroying” and bullying stretching back to her time as California attorney general. Former aides said it’s not shocking to learn about a 92% turnover rate under the veep considering how she has behaved behind the scenes: screaming matching with senior staff, berating underlings for minute oversights, and leaving interns in tears. That sentiment was echoed by Gil Duran, an ex-aide to Harris when she served as California’s attorney general. “What is the common denominator through all this?” he said, “It’s her.”
