Daily Caller Crushes Lib Think Tank To Complete Undefeated Softball Regular Season

The Daily Caller Extended Universe Softball Team capped off a perfect 6-0 regular season with a win last week over the Roosevelt Institute in Washington, D.C.

The Callers entered the game having already clinched first place in the Bull Moose division and a #1 seed in the playoffs, but Roosevelt had plenty to play for: at 2-3, they could secure a playoff berth with a win, but would be eliminated with a loss.

Sadly for the Rough Ryders, it was not their day, as the Callers cruised to a 14-3 victory to tune up for the playoffs.

It was an early romp for the Callers, who put up 3 runs in the first and 6 in the third to get out to a 9-1 lead through 3. Intern Kenny got things started at the top of the lineup, putting together a 3-3 day with three singles, while Visiting Sporting Fellow Will Mitola, Visiting Sporting Fellow Manfred Wendt, Visiting Sporting Fellow Jonah Wendt and White House Correspondent Reagan Reese combined for 8 hits in the 2-5 spots of the lineup to drive the offense.

Mitola, M. Wendt (who spiced up the game by getting in a dispute about sharing his bat with the other team) and Daily Caller News Foundation Reporting Fellow Wallace “Wall-E” White each homered in the contest. The defensive effort was exquisite to hold the Ryders to just 3 runs across 7 trips to the plate, anchored by Audio Wizard Corey Inganamort and Reese in the outfield.

Intern Tayte played her first complete game at second base and singled. Intern Ellie, Elevator Czar Lucas Alonso, Former DCNF Editor Graham Dudley and Visiting Sporting Fellow Breccan Thies all tacked on hits as well. The game provided the coaching staff with important data to set the playoff lineup, as the Callers look to win their third Think Tank Softball League championship, and 1st since 2022. They’ll start this week in the Round of 16 against the RAND Corporation (3-3), who finished 4th place in the Free Soil Division in the regular season.
