Grisham trashes Trump at DNC and endorses Harris: ‘Love my country more than my party’

Former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham bashed former President Donald Trump and hailed Vice President Kamala Harris in a speech at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.

Grisham was one of the star speakers on the second night of the DNC, during which she lambasted her former boss. Her speech lasted about two minutes.

“When I was press secretary, I got skewered for never holding a White House briefing,” she said. “It’s because, unlike my boss, I never wanted to stand at that podium and lie. Now here I am behind a podium advocating for a Democrat, and that’s because I love my country more than my party. Kamala Harris tells the truth. She respects the American people. And she has my vote.”

Grisham recalled texting Melania Trump to ask if the president could tweet to denounce violent protests on Jan. 6, 2021, to which the former first lady replied, “No,” according to Grisham. The text was displayed behind her while she spoke.

She was the first senior official to resign on Jan. 6, during which she was serving as the chief of staff and press secretary to Melania Trump.

In her speech, Grisham also claimed that the former president “mocks” his supporters and calls them “basement dwellers” but didn’t give further details.

Donald Trump had dismissed Grisham’s criticisms ahead of the publication of her memoirs in the fall of 2021, saying she had become “very angry and bitter” after a breakup.

“Stephanie didn’t have what it takes and that was obvious from the beginning,” he said in a statement to the New York Times. “She had big problems and we felt that she should work out those problems for herself. Now, like everyone else, she gets paid by a radical left-leaning publisher to say bad and untrue things.”
